All of the preceding CFD outputs were based on a given impeller speed and impeller design. Once the SX pump box and internals are meshed, each solution will only take about 35 iterations, which is about 1/2-1 hour to converge. If you do this enough times you can create your own head-flow-power-efficiency curves like we did.
The graphic was determined by
experimentation and has been published (ref
29) From the Power Calculation we get Np
and as you can see we should get Nq=0.15. A
previous slide showed that we determined 0.15 from the CFD.
Based on this experimentally
determined graph, if Nq=0.15, then Nh=0.6. This
also was determined on a previous slide.
We can see what the hydraulic efficiency is.
The data derived from the CFD computer program coincides
precisely on the lines that were once generated by reaction.
In about the time it would take to experimentally derive these
lines, CFD can be used to do the same.
