EMPLOYMENT

??? 2010 - present

New job???

As Pete's SKYPE message says, "The next chapter begins! Better than the last chapter? Of that I'm sure. The best chapter? Hard to beat the years on Oz." If you can figure this out, please let us know.

Back in Vancouver 2009 - 2010

Pete - Being a great Dad and a Son, anything else you want us to put here?

Pete left Lightnin to return to Canada due to family obligations. What we do know is that he drove Dr. Post from the Airport (YVR) to the ferry so that Tom could attend NAMF's Mixing XXII conference in Victoria (June 2010). And of course we hope Pete will fill us in about the rest of his return to North America.

Applications Enginner 2001 - 2009

SPX Process Equipment, Regents Park NSW, Australia

Responsible for the sizing and application of mixing processes for the Lightnin Division.

TECHNICAL SALES / PROCESS DESIGNER May 1994 - 2001

Black & Baird Ltd., North Vancouver, B.C.

As part of the team at Black & Baird Ltd. I was responsible for all products in the line and coverage of numerous Mills, Mines & Treatment Plants throughout British Columbia. I developed a high level of expertise with instruments for many applications. With Black & Baird Ltd. I developed an industry wide reputation as an expert in fluid mixing technology, with a focus on Biological Systems, Mechanical Aeration, Flocculation, Rapid Mixing Systems. I've worked with UV Systems, Ozone Systems, Flotation Systems, Chemical Feed Systems, Water Filtration, Reverse Osmosis, Dewatering Systems, Gas Diffusion Systems and Industrial / Municipal Effluent Treatment Systems and Materials Handling.

CAREER HIGH POINTS

  • I provided more than 400 Gauge Pressure, Differential Pressure and Temperature Transmitters as part of the Annacis Island WWTP.
  • I worked as the primary on a 1000 ton/day solar sludge-dewatering project for the city of Los Angeles.
  • I worked as a consultant to SWACO Global Services a Div. of M-I L.L.C. in Houston TX., on the development of their drill cuttings bioremediation technology.

INTERESTS & ACTIVITIES

  • Sports - I play men’s league tennis, I play golf badly but I love it, snowboard, river-raft and roller blade, hike and camp.
  • I collect music and movies from the 30’s to the 90’s
  • Reading - biographies and autobiographies, I’ll read anything or everything.
  • Working with my computer, Graphics, Animations, Audio
  • I speak English and some Hungarian and I have traveled to places throughout North America and Europe, I work to travel.
  • I water & oil paint, charcoal sketch
  • Web Page Design

Most recently I have spent a great deal of my free time, working as part of a small group of four individuals on the R&D of a new Bioremediation process technology for which we currently hold two patents.

ENGINEERED PACKAGES

I have designed numerous packaged systems:

  • Chemical Feed Systems
  • pH Neutralization Systems
  • Polymer Feed Systems
  • Blower & Gas Manifold Systems
  • Equipment Lubrication Systems
  • Control & Alarm Panels
  • MgO Precipitation Systems

I have used a number of commercially available software packages to write a number of process design and scale-up programs.

TECHNICAL COMMUNICATION

I’ve written two technical papers “Liquid Analysis of Metallurgical Process” and “Impeller Fluid Shear & Pumping Capacity”. I also co-authored a paper with Dr. Thomas Post and Keith Johnson, that was presented at the AIChE annual meeting in San Francisco.

I’ve written Technical Installation and Operation Manuals including drawings and graphics, for a number of skid turnkey systems.

I have put on technical training seminars for numerous local (British Columbia) consulting firms.

I was required to generate all my own technical proposals, which included all preliminary design and sizing as well as the following:

  • Technical reports
  • Process descriptions
  • Cost Analysis
  • Instructional manuals
